Samuel Brown is an American football wide receiver for the Miami Hurricanes. He previously played for the Houston Cougars and for the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Early life and high school

Brown attended New Hampstead High School located in Bloomingdale, Georgia. Coming out of high school, Brown was rated as a three star recruit, where he decided to commit to play college football for the West Virginia Mountaineers over other schools such as Florida, Ole Miss, Colorado, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Oregon, Syracuse, Tennessee, and Wake Forest.[1][2]

College career

During Brown's two year career at West Virginia from 2020 through 2021, he appeared in nine games where he hauled in ten receptions for 108 yards.[3] After the conclusion of the 2021 season, Brown decided to enter his name into the NCAA transfer poral.[4][5]

Houston

Brown decided to transfer to play for the Houston Cougars.[6][7] In week six of the 2022 season, Brown notched nine receptions for 116 yards in a win over the Memphis Tigers.[8] In the 2022 regular season finale versus the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, Brown slapped Tulsa player Bryson Powers after the game, which as a result, Brown was suspended for the team's bowl game.[9][10] During Brown's first season with the Cougars in 2022 he appeared in eleven games with seven starts, where he hauled in 41 receptions for 471 yards and four touchdowns.[11] In week ten of the 2023 season, Brown hauled in nine receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown, as he helped Houston to a win over the Baylor Bears.[12] In Brown's 2023 season, he notched 62 receptions for 815 yards and three touchdowns.[13][14] For his performance during the 2023 season, Brown was named a Big 12 all-conference team honorable mention.[15] After the conclusion of the 2023 season, Brown decided to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal.[16][17]

Miami

Brown decided to transfer to play for the Miami Hurricanes.[18][19] In week eight of the 2024 season, Brown had a breakout game where he hauled in three receptions for 125 yards, as he helped the Hurricanes to a win over the Louisville Cardinals.[20] For his performance versus the Louisville Cardinals, Brown was named the ACC Receiver of the week.[21]
