SALT (dating app)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

SALT is a Christian dating app designed to facilitate connections among Christians seeking relationships.[1] The app, launched by a team of Christians in the United Kingdom at September 2018 aims to address the challenges of meeting like-minded individuals in everyday life.[2][3][4]

Users can match, exchange messages, and arrange meetings without requiring a paid subscription.

The app also provides a premium version. Premium features include the ability to send likes with a message, view profiles that have liked the user, and access an increased number of daily likes.[5]

History

[edit]

Paul Rider, a professional thriving in London's FinTech sector, faced challenges in finding a compatible Christian partner through existing online dating platforms. Recognizing a gap in the market for a faith-based dating service, he was inspired to create SALT—a dating app tailored specifically for Christians. Upon its launch, SALT attracted thousands of users and achieved profitability. To further its mission of supporting Christians in various stages of relationships, from singleness to marriage preparation, SALT sought additional capital for expansion. SALT secured $370,000 in funding, enabling it to enhance its offerings and extend its global reach.[6]

Media coverage

[edit]

In February 2019, BBC Songs of Praise featured a Christian Speed Dating event, which was run by SALT. The segment also included an interview with SALT's founders, and a couple who met through the platform, as part of a Valentine's Day special. [7]
