Ruben Roosken (born 2 March 2000) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a left-back for English EFL League One club Huddersfield Town.
Club career
[edit]Emmen
[edit]The son of a Dutch father and a Luso-Angolan mother,[2] Roosken played as a youth for VV Klazienaveen before joining the youth academy of FC Emmen.[1] He made his Eredivisie debut for Emmen on 14 September 2019 in a match against Utrecht.[3]
TOP Oss
[edit]On 10 August 2020, Roosken signed a two-year contract with Eerste Divisie club, TOP Oss.[4] He made his debut for the club on 29 August in a 1–2 home loss to Helmond Sport, coming on as a substitute in the 67th minute for Niels Fleuren.[5] In the following match against Roda JC Kerkrade, Roosken made his first start for the club.[6] Afterwards, he would become a regular starter for the club, making 30 total appearances for TOP Oss as the club finished in 10th place.[7][8]
Heracles Almelo
[edit]On 18 June 2021, it was announced that Roosken had signed a three-year contract with Heracles Almelo.[9]
Huddersfield Town
[edit]On 28 December 2024, Roosken agreed to join EFL League One club Huddersfield Town on a two-and-a-half year deal for an undisclosed fee, joining the club upon the opening of the transfer window on 1 January 2025.[10] On 4 January 2025, he made his debut as a second-half substitute in a 0–0 draw with Rotherham United, being shown a straight red card just nine minutes after coming on.[11]
