Rosa Adare (Rose Love) (Sinhala: රෝස ආදරේ) is a 2025 Sri Lankan Sinhalese romantic thriller film directed by Harsha Udakanda and produced by Ashok Jayakody for Ashok Films.[1] The film is a remake of the 2014 Kollywood film Naan Sigappu Manithan. It stars Nisala Hettiarachchi and Dinakshie Priyasad in the lead roles along with Dilhani Ekanayake, Rajitha Hiran, Pathum Rukshan, Lal Weerasinghe and Wasantha Kumaravila made supportive roles.[2][3][4]
Plot
[edit]Anuj is a youth who suffers from narcolepsy. He has two friends, Janith and Jagath. Anuj has 10 dreams in his life, which are common to other people but special to him due to his health condition. The film follows how he achieves his dreams in the middle of many problems and his romantic life with Sachini.[5][6]

Production
[edit]This is the seventh cinema direction by Harsha Udakanda,[13] who previously made the films: Ulath Ekai Pilath Ekai (2016), Kolamba Sanniya Returns (2018), Goree (2019), Face to Face (2019), Seda Mawathe (2020) and Kabaddi (2021). He also made the screenplay for the story written by Anuj Ranasinghe based on the Tamil film. The film was produced by Ashok Jayakody, Nandalal Jayasiri handled production management, and Shalini Fernando Udakanda made executive production.[2] Assistant director is Bandula Kahruhitiya and art director is Harshana Lal Kumara.[5][14]
Cinematography done by Nishan Hasitha, editing and visual effects supervision by Thivanka Amarasiri, and color combination by Shan Alwis. Shane Aryan is the choreographer, whereas Samantha Mayadunna is the stunt director. Nimesh Kulasinghe created the music direction and song composition. Kusala Vidanapathirana and Shehan Galahitiyava penned song lyrics. Raveen Tharuka, Adithya Weliwatta, Fallon Andrea, Hirusha Fernando, and Sewmini Sanjana made background vocals.[2][5][14]
Anuj Ranasinghe wrote the screenplay back in 2017, and Udakanda tried several times to produce it with Ranasinghe. However, it was delayed due to busy schedules.[15] Shooting of the film was completed in early 2024.[16]
Release
[edit]The media screening and special screening of the film was held at One Goal Face Live Cinema Complex.[3][17] The film was officially released on 3 January 2025 in MPI theatres throughout the country.[1][6][18] After releasing the film trailer, the film became the first time that a Sri Lankan film trailer has trended on YouTube.[13]
