Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World is an anime television series based on the light novel series written by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrated by Shinichirou Otsuka. In March 2023, it was announced that a third season of the anime series was in production.[1] The season is animated by White Fox and directed by Masahiro Shinohara, who replaces Masaharu Watanabe as series director. Haruka Sagawa is serving as character designer.[2] It premiered on October 2, 2024, with a 90-minute special. For the first cours, titled the "Attack Arc", the opening theme song is "Reweave" performed by Konomi Suzuki, while the ending theme song is "Nox Lux" performed by Myth & Roid.[3] A second cours, titled the "Counterattack Arc", is set to premiere later on February 5, 2025.[4]

One year after the events in the Sanctuary, Emilia's camp receives a visit from Mimi and Joshua Juukulius, courtesy of Anastasia's camp. Joshua conveys an invitation from Anastasia to visit her in the Watergate City of Priestella, further enticed by information on a magic stone which could help them bring Puck back. Subaru, Emilia, Beatrice, Otto, and Garfiel travel to the great city, and meet up with Anastasia and Julius, who inform them about "the Songstress Maniac" who runs the Muse Company, which has the magic stones they desire. On the boat ride there, Subaru gets sick and is left behind with Beatrice, where they stumble upon a young songstress, Liliana Masquerade. The girl excitedly takes them to the Muse Company to reunite with the group, and inadvertently cause a commotion, ruining their deal. The group then pass by a white-haired man, who expresses an interest in Emilia, while she finds him familiar. They soon learn that both Felt and Crusch's camps received invitations as well, as they reunite with Reinhard, Felt, Crusch, Felix, and Wilhelm; Anastasia reveals she has information on the Sin Archbishop of Gluttony, in order to help restore Crusch's memories and wake up Rem. Garfiel is haunted by visions of Elsa, while feeling insecure over Reinhard's superior strength, but is cheered up by Mimi who takes him around the city. He saves a group of kids and upon returning one to their family, is stunned to see his mother alive. That night, Subaru speaks with Wilhelm over his strained relationship with his grandson Reinhard, due to blaming him for his wife's death, and his desire to improve it, which he attempts to do during breakfast. However, it is then disrupted by the sudden arrival of Heinkel, Wilhelm's son and Reinhard's father, brought there by Priscilla for her own amusement, who makes things awkward by ridiculing and insulting the both of them. Subaru and Julius then vent their own frustrations regarding the Astrea's dysfunctional family. Later, Subaru, Emilia, and Beatrice encounter Liliana and Priscilla performing to a crowd, with Priscilla voicing her fondness to the Songstress. After breaking off from the group, Subaru and a crowd of people are greeted by the Sin Archbishop of Wrath, Sirius Romanée-Conti, preaching to them all atop a tower, with everyone inexplicably being drawn in to her. She ends her performance by dropping a kid to his death, instantly killing everyone in the audience. Subaru "Returns by Death" back to several minutes prior, during the encounter with Liliana and Priscilla, recoiling to himself in shock.
522"A Showdown of Fire and Ice"

Realizing he has only a few minutes until Sirius' attack, Subaru rushes over to the tower in an attempt to rescue the kid, Lusbel, learning that she also has captured his friend, Tina. However, Subaru finds himself inexplicably overcome by Lusbel's intense emotions, stalling him long enough for Sirius to arrive and hang Subaru down the tower with her metal chain, killing him. Respawning once again, Subaru decides to seek Reinhard's help, getting Rachins from Felt's camp to summon him. Reinhard quickly arrives and easily overwhelms Sirius in battle, as all the brainwashed civilians cheer for him to kill her. He does so, only for everybody to die in the exact same way, including Subaru. Respawning for a third time, Subaru privately informs Beatrice about the incoming attack and brainstorm a way to counteract Sirius' abilities. As they prepare to confront her, Emilia appears, insisting on helping them. Sirius becomes enraged over Emilia and the two battle, while Subaru and Beatrice rescue Lusbel. Sirius catches Emilia off guard using Tina as a hostage, allowing her to seemingly burn her alive. But instead, she is saved by the white-haired man, the Sin Archbishop of Greed, Regulus Corneas, who intends to take her as his 79th wife.
533"Gorgeous Tiger"

At the front gates of the city, Otto encounters the Sin Archbishop of Gluttony, Lye Batenkaitos. In the town square, Sirius begins angrily attacking Regulus and the unconscious Emilia. Subaru and Beatrice use their combined magic, as well as Subaru's Invisible Providence, to try and rescue Emilia, but fail. Seeing the Unseen Hands causes Sirius to believe Subaru is Petelgeuse and react over-joyously. Before anything can else can happen, the two Archbishops leave, due to following the words of the Gospel, with Regulus grievously injuring Subaru's leg beforehand, which is copied to everyone else in the area due to Sirius' Authority. Meanwhile, Garfiel recalls back to the previous night, where he learned that his mother's husband found her fifteen years ago in the landslide that supposedly killed her, but without any memories, calling her "Liara". Garfiel's unable to reveal his relation to her to either of them, and later breaks down in tears, comforted by Mimi. Soon afterwards, the city receives a message on the loudspeakers from the Sin Archbishop of Lust, Capella Emerada Lugunica. Subaru wakes up in an underground bunker with Al and Felix, with Beatrice in a state of suspended animation after using up all her mana to heal Subaru and the injured people. They join up with Crusch, Anastasia, and Wilhelm, where Subaru learns that the Archbishops have taken control of the four towers surrounding the city, threatening to open the watergates to drown Priestella, and that they desire the remains of the witch that reside in the city. At the same time, Garfiel runs into Liara once again, who's worried about her children and husband, and he declares he'll find them.
544"Operation: Take Back the Government Office"

At city hall, Garfiel and Mimi are confronted by two Witch Cultists, a woman and a man with four arms, which they attack and flee from. Elsewhere, Heinkel holds Felt hostage to prevent Reinhard from leaving. At the Muse Company base, Subaru and the group discuss Capella's potential relationship to a Emerada Lugunica from fifty years ago, and that the witch's remains are only known by the Council of Ten, including Muse's leader Kiritaka. Suddenly, Garfiel arrives carrying a bloodied Mimi, with a wound that won't close, which Wilhelm recognizes. After Kiritaka reveals that the witch's remains can't be removed or else it will destroy the city, and learning that Capella has several hostages, they plan a counterattack to regain control of city hall, now joined by Julius and Ricardo; Al heads off to find Priscilla, warning them about the other Archbishops present. The group battle the Witch Cultists, as Capella, transformed into a dragon, appears to taunt them. When she regenerates after an attack from Julius and leaves, Garfiel, Wilhelm, and Ricardo stay behind, while Subaru, Crusch, and Julius chase after her. However, they are then faced by the Sin Archbishop of Gluttony, Roy Alphard, enraging Subaru. Meanwhile, Emilia wakes up naked in a bed and is greeted by Regulus, who asks if she is a virgin.
555"A Dark Torrent"

Emilia is unsure as to what a virgin is, which delights Regulus as he introduces her to one of his wives, Number 184. Julius stays behind to fight Roy while Subaru and Crusch head inside, where they quickly subdue a dragon and rescue a hostage. Subaru is shocked to find a room covered in giant flies, just as Crusch is knocked out by the hostage, revealing herself to be Capella, who has the power to transform herself and others. She transforms into Emilia to mock Subaru's idea of love, before ripping off his injured leg. She then proceeds to give Subaru and Crusch some of her dragon's blood to see what will happen, just as the dragon gets back up and blasts fire at Capella. Meanwhile, Kiritaka is unable to get in contact with the Council of Ten, and just as he and Anastasia are about to evacuate, they are attacked by Sirius. Hetaro, Tivey, and Kiritaka's personal guard the White Dragon's Scales stay behind to fight, allowing Anastasia to escape. Elsewhere, Otto uses his powers to cause a distraction allowing Reinhard to rescue Felt from Heinkel, knocking him out. Just then, the watergates are suddenly opened and the city begins flooding. The dragon attempts to fly away with Crusch and Subaru, but Capella's attack causes Subaru to plummet into the water. As Emilia watches the devastation, Capella announces three more demands, the Tome of Wisdom, the artificial spirit, and to not interfere with the upcoming wedding.
566"Conditions of the Knight"

184 informs Emilia of the current state of the city, and that the Witch Cult will re-open the flood gates if she attempts to escape. Meanwhile, Subaru awakens having been saved from the flood by Priscilla and Liliana, and is shocked to discover his leg fully healed and with regenerative properties, thanks to the dragon's blood Capella gave him. Priscilla informs Subaru of the three new demands, enraging him, just as she takes out a group of demi-beasts that have been unleashed on the city. They enter a refugee shelter, where the civilians are under the spell of Wrath's Authority and on the verge of a riot, when Liliana sings to them, revealing she has the power to override the Authority. Elsewhere, Regulus sees Emilia in her new dress and informs her their wedding will be in a nearby venue that night. When Emilia asks to rest, Regulus takes his anger out on 184 and nearly kills her. After saving her, Emilia is aghast at 184 displaying no emotion over it, wondering why all of Regulus' wives act this way. Subaru reunites with Julius, learning that while they lost the Muse Company, they regained the government office and made that their new base, but also that Crusch is currently suffering badly due to the dragon's blood. Subaru informs Anastasia and Julius about Beatrice being an artificial spirit and that the Tome of Wisdom has been destroyed. Julius then mentions how many of the refugee shelters are facing unrest due to Wrath's Authority, and after questioning how they can overcome the conflict with as few casualties, Subaru declares his desire as a knight to save everyone, defeat all their enemies, and achieve their happy ending. Meanwhile, Emilia spies on Regulus, who is arguing with Capella on a metia, learning she wasn't responsible for opening the floodgates. She goes to use the metia for herself, when unexpectedly Al calls it.
577"The Newest of Heroes and the Most Ancient of Heroes"

Al finds a metia from a witch cultist, inadvertently calling Emilia who informs him of the locations of Regulus and Capella. He delivers her message to Subaru and the group, now joined by Garfiel, at the government office, just as Subaru plans to use the master metia to combat Wrath's Authority affecting the city, by broadcasting a hopeful message to everyone. When all his suggestions for who to use the metia fall through, Garfiel volunteers Subaru himself, and is supported by Julius. Al voices his concerns over Subaru taking up so much responsibility, which ultimately convinces him to accept. Meanwhile, Emilia is surprised to see a slight showing of emotion from 184 after she expresses concern over Emilia not escaping. She then reveals that Regulus killed everyone who knew her, and did the same with all his other wives too, all for the sake of his possessiveness. Subaru gives an impactful and earnest speech to the city, talking about his insecurities, yet firm resolve to save everyone and defeat the threats, which manages to reach all the civilians and relieving some of their anxiety. Emilia voices her confidence in Subaru and her desire to help 184, while the rest of the group in the government office express their approval over Subaru's speech. Just as they are about to resume their counter-attack planning, they are joined by Otto and Reinhard.
588"The One I'll Love Someday"

While discussing the Witch Cult's demands, Otto reveals that he acquired the burned up remains of the Tome of Wisdom and brought it into the city to be restored; he secretly tells Subaru he suspects Roswaal of potentially having future plans and desires to learn what's in the Tome. Subaru goes to see an awakened Crusch, who is suffering badly from the dragon's blood. Upon touching her, parts of Crusch's infection is healed and transferred to Subaru's right arm, but she stops him before he can do anymore. Wilhelm then reveals to Subaru the identities of the two Witch Cultists, the resurrected bodies of "Eight-Arms" Kurgan, the strongest swordsman of the Volakia Empire, and his wife, the previous Sword Saint Theresia van Astrea. He also reveals that Theresia lost her divine protection, which transferred to Reinhard, during her battle with the White Whale, which lead to her death; he also intends to keep Theresia's identity a secret to Reinhard. The group are soon joined by Priscilla and Liliana, who volunteers to confront Sirius, using Liliana's singing to counter Wrath's Authority. Wilhelm and Garfiel are assigned to confront Capella, Kurgan, and Theresia, Reinhard and Subaru in confronting Regulus to rescue Emilia, and Julius and Ricardo to track down Gluttony. At the church, Regulus begins the ceremony, demanding that once Emilia becomes his wife she show no sign of emotion. Emilia rebukes him, voicing her feelings on what it means to love someone, increasingly enraging Regulus, even moreso when she mentions Subaru. Before he can retaliate, Subaru and Reinhard bust through the doors and introduce themselves, to Emilia's delight.
