Raydium is a decentralized exchange[1] (DEX) built on the Solana blockchain. It provides automated market making[2] (AMM) and liquidity provision through its on-chain order book system. Unlike traditional DEXs, Raydium integrates directly with the Serum[3] decentralized exchange, enabling shared liquidity and faster trade execution.[4][5][6]
History
[edit]Raydium was launched in February 2021 by an anonymous team known collectively as "AlphaRay,[7]" "XRay," and other pseudonymous developers. Its creation aimed to address scalability and transaction speed issues common in Ethereum-based DEXs by leveraging Solana's high-performance blockchain.[8]
Features
[edit]Automated market maker
[edit]Raydium uses an automated model where users can provide liquidity by depositing token pairs into liquidity pools. This allows for trustless trading and yield generation through fees earned from swaps.[9]
Order book integration
[edit]Raydium connects with Serum's on-chain order book, enabling users to access broader liquidity. This integration differentiates Raydium from typical AMM-based DEXs.[9]
Yield farming
[edit]Liquidity providers can stake their LP tokens to earn RAY,[10] the platform's native token, through various farming programs.[12]
Staking
[edit]RAY holders can stake tokens directly on the platform for additional rewards, enhancing passive income opportunities.[13][14]
Launchpad AcceleRaytor
[edit]Raydium's AcceleRaytor platform supports token launches for new blockchain projects, providing early investment opportunities for users.[16][17][18]
Governance
[edit]Raydium follows a decentralized governance model through the RAY token. Holders can vote on platform updates, new liquidity pools, and key protocol changes. Governance decisions are implemented based on community voting results.[19]
