Princely Umanmielen (born April 18, 2002) is an American football defensive end for the Ole Miss Rebels. He previously played for the Florida Gators.

Early life

Umanmielen was born on April 18, 2002, in Manor, Texas. He attended Manor High School, playing for their football team recording 93 tackles with 13 going for a loss, six sacks, two fumble recoveries, and a forced fumble.[1] Umanmielen committed to play college football at the University of Florida over offers from Auburn, Baylor, and Texas.[2][3]

College career

In Umanmielen's first season in 2020, he notched three tackles with two being for a loss, and two sacks.[4] In the 2021 season, he tallied 17 tackles with 1.5 going for a loss, a sack, and a forced fumble.[5] In week 10 of the 2022 season, Umanmielen had a strong performance having a strip sack on quarterback Haynes King as he helped the Gators beat Texas A&M.[6][7] Umanmielen finished his breakout 2022 season with 39 tackles with 9.5 being for a loss, 4.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles.[8] Umanmielen was named preseason third team all SEC, for the 2023 season.[9] Umanmielen was a projected prospect for the 2024 NFL draft, being projected as a late second round pick.[10] On December 6, 2023, instead of declaring for the draft, he entered the transfer portal.[11]

Ole Miss

On December 15, 2023, Umanmielen announced that he would be transferring to Ole Miss.[12]
