Portuguese Curaçaoans are descendants of Portuguese immigrants to the island of Curaçao. Many Portuguese laborers, namely from Madeira, immigrated to Curaçao to work in the Curaçaoan oil and agricultural industries in from the 1920s to 1950s.[2] According to the Madeiran Government, there are over 3.000 (Madeiran) Portuguese Curaçaoans in Curaçao and around 6.000 total in the former Netherlands Antilles islands today.[3]
