The best way when writing events is writing them in a chronological order, starting with the event that happened first and ending with the event that happened last. IP 71.14.74.113 keeps rearranging the events as they like with no explanation given. Also they keep reverting my sourced contributions and writing thing as they want disregarding the WP:NPOV required. Instead of engaging in WP:EW it's best if we have consensus. Your blanket reverts to a previous version of this item contain two assertions not supported by the cited sources: 1) neither article mentions that the woman shot in Hebron for attacking soldiers was pregnant. 2) the withholding of tax revenue is explicitly stated in the source cited as from the “Palestinian Authority” not the “State of Palestine”. You may call it what you like but the source does not say that, and in fact the accord to transfer tax revenues according to the Oslo Accords is between the State of Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
Also, you seem to be edit warring over the order of the items with other users too, for reasons you fail to explain, since they all occur on the same day, and frankly, I think the order they were in before makes more sense in terms of grouping events that occurred in the same areas together.
So I have reverted the item to its previous state and expect you will address and work to reach a consensus on the issues above before any further changes are made here. PopularMax (talk) 22:49, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Since none of the sources say the woman was pregnant I'm fine with removing it. And I'm going to let the Palestinian Authority argument slide.
The reason I think it's best to have events ordered chronologically is to maintain a neutral point of view, a person who doesn't know how Wikipedia works will certainly think events are ordered in that way.
And your edits completely lack a NPOV:
1- The Palestinian woman allegedly tried to stab an officer, there are no real evidence supporting that claim as I know. 2- Palestinian sources does not mention that she's related to any attacker.
3- There's no mention that the 13 year old Israeli girl was living in a settlement.
4- Why did you remove the age of the Palestinian man who died at Qalandiya checkpoint (63) even though it is sourced? 5- "Riot" at the checkpoint is only mentioned by The Times of Israel, Ma'an does not mention any riot, and if you check the videos on both sources you can also see that. It needs better wording. Dreamsarenotreal (talk) 06:42, 15 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply. I don't see what you mean by ordering the events chronologically within the given day (is it by the timestamp of the cited articles?) Please explain.
As far as NPOV, you were clearly angling for a POV trying to include emotive and even unsubstantiated assertions, while I am trying to present the material in matter of fact and neutral tone. But I don't know that that is a productive discussion to have so I'd rather propose several specific changes:
1 - The Palestinian source and the Israeli source differ as to whether the woman was shot because she was suspected of attacking the officer with a knife or actually approaching them armed with a knife and trying to stab one of them. Since saying that she "allegedly" tried to stab an officer is just as POV-ish as not saying allegedly, I suggest wording it as "A Palestinian woman, in what was construed to be an attempt to stab...", as this is not as judgmental either way (and anyone who doesn't already have an opinion can read more about it.)
2 - Yes, neither source explicitly says that the woman was a relative of the perpetrator of the previous attack against the girl, even though she was from the same village and had the same family name; that may have been the basis of the conjecture they were related and was I think originally in the TOI article but is not anymore, so I am fine with also removing that phrase here.
3 - I think it's clear from the phrase "Hebron area" where the girl's murder took place but I wouldn't object to adding the name of the town in which her home was located.
4 - I'm OK with adding back the man's age.
5 - Both articles clearly indicate that there was some kind of disturbance; if you prefer to use Maan's word "clash" instead of TOI's "riot" I'm OK with that.
Yes, arranging events according to the sources timestamp is what I had in mind, and I don't object to the points you made. If you want to make the changes then you are welcome. Dreamsarenotreal (talk) 20:23, 15 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
