American Civil War portal This week in American Civil War history talk page
[edit]Unless otherwise stated, this will follow a weekly chronology of events; while we may copy edit this a bit, especially for context and wikifying, I'll ask users to help us maintain a relatively stable version for the period, asking users to make their changes on the article, not this pointer toward that article.
May?
[edit]What does it show the first week of May as the current week? LOast I checked it's August.--King Bedford I Seek his grace 00:57, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
- You might have noticed I asked for help filling this calendar several months ago. Didn't get much (though I can't complain at User:Bedford, he was one that helped). I removed the variable until I could get this filled (at which point I plan on switching this to "This day in ACW history"). I'll be reinserting the variable in two weeks or so. December 22
[edit]The entry for December 22 reads: December 22
1864 - Savannah - Mayor Richard D. Arnold rode out to formally surrender this port city to Union commander William Tecumseh Sherman; after maneuvering 62,000 Federals without supply lines through thirty-seven days march and over 300 miles of destruction, "Sherman's March to the Sea" finally reached the Atlantic Ocean
Sherman had actually reached the Atlantic Ocean on December 12, contacted the Union blockading squadron and received supplies, rations and mail.
