- 1921 - The Pittsburgh Pirates trade Billy Southworth, Fred Nicholson, Walter Barbare, and $15,000 to the Boston Braves for Rabbit Maranville.
- 1934 - Casey Stengel signs a two-year deal to manage the Brooklyn Dodgers.
- 1954 - The Cards purchase Vic Raschi from the Yankees for $85,000.
- 1960 - Demolition of Ebbets Field begins.
- 1974 - The California Angels send Vada Pinson to the Kansas City Royals for a minor leaguer and cash.
