- 1649 – England: The Diggers occupy St George's Hill.
- 1901 – Francisco Ascaso (d. July 20, 1936) is born in Huesca, Spain.
- 1939 – Spanish Civil War: The final offensive ends the war in a nationalist victory, establishing the Spanish State as the de facto ruling power in the country.
April 2
- 1916 - French anarchist Sébastien Faure started the newspaper Ce Qu'il Faut Dire.
- 1959 - Massachusetts Representative Alexander Celia unsuccessfully proposes a bill posthumously pardoning Sacco and Vanzetti.
April 3
- 1937 - Spanish Revolution: The Generalitat de Catalunya is reshuffled, appointing Josep Juan i Domènech as Minister of Economy, Public Services, Health and Social Assistance and Francesc Isgleas i Piarnau as Minister of Defence
- 1996 - Theodore Kaczynski (the "Unabomber") was arrested at his cabin outside of Lincoln, Montana.
April 4
- 1866 - Dmitry Karakozov (pictured) attempted to assassinate Alexander II of Russia in Saint Petersburg
- 1900 - Jean-Baptiste Sipido attempted to assassinate the Prince of Wales.
- 1945 - Former anarchist Daniel Cohn-Bendit was born.
April 5
- 1871 - During the Paris Commune, Élisée Reclus was arrested.
- 1889 - Andrea Costa was sentenced to three years in prison for rebellion against the police.
- 1895 - Oscar Wilde was arrested for homosexuality.
- 1997 - American anarchist Allen Ginsberg died.
April 6
- 1878 - German anarchist Erich Mühsam was born in Berlin.
- 1904 - The case of John Turner was heard by the United States Supreme Court.
April 7
- 1836 - William Godwin died.
- 1870 - German anarchist Gustav Landauer was born in Karlsruhe.
- 1872 - Doctor Marie Equi (pictured) was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
- 1901 - In Switzerland, violent confrontations took place between the police and protesters during demonstrations against the extradition of an Italian anarchist suspected of participation in the attack on Italy's King Umberto I on July 29, 1900.
April 8
- 1909 - The citizenship of Emma Goldman's legal husband, Jacob Kershner, was invalidated by a Federal court in Buffalo, New York, threatening Goldman's claim to US citizenship and resulting in cancellation of Goldman's trip to Australia.
- 1945 - The two day congress of the exiled Federación Ibérica de Juventudes Libertarias (Iberian Federation of Anarchist Youth) began in Toulouse.
- 1950 - Spanish maqui Josep Lluís i Facerias blew up a police station in Barcelona.
- 1978 - French-born member of the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo Gaston Leval died.
April 9
- 1908 - US President Theodore Roosevelt argues before a Senate committee that any material espousing anarchist opinions should be criminalized.
- 1915 - Two anarchists were sentenced to six to twelve years in prison for planting bombs at two Catholic churches on the fifth anniversary of the execution (pictured) of Escuela Moderna founder Francesc Ferrer i Guàrdia.
- 1918 - In Moscow, members of the anarchist Black Guard confiscated the car of the American ambassador to Russia, demanding release of prisoners in the US.
- 1927 - The death sentences of Sacco and Vanzetti were upheld by Judge Webster Thayer.
April 10
- 1918 - Reacting to anarchists protesting the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, the USSR's Cheka raided several anarchist centers, killing around 40, and arresting upwards of 500 anarchists.
- 1919 - Mexican anarchist Emiliano Zapata (pictured) was killed by members of the Mexican military.
April 11
- 1910 - In Cheyenne, Wyoming, Emma Goldman and Ben Reitman were arrested at an open-air meeting.
- 1918 - The Cheka raided several anarchist centers in Moscow, arresting hundreds of anarchists, but were met by resistance from the Black Guards, including Lev Chernyi (pictured).
April 12
- 1904 - A Spanish anarchist attempted to kill Spain's Prime Minister Antonio Maura.
- 1906 - Catalan anarchist Francesc Ferrer i Guàrdia organized a demonstration in support of secular education.
- 1989 - American anarchist Abbie Hoffman committed suicide.
April 13
- 1937 - Spanish Civil War: Remnants of the Rosal Column are militarized into the 42nd Division.
- 1949 - Marie-Louise Berneri dies in childbirth.
April 14
- 1874 - American individualist anarchist Josiah Warren died.
- 1937 - Spain's Friends of Durruti Group issued a manifesto stating its opposition to celebrating the anniversary of the Second Spanish Republic.
- 1988 - French anarchist Daniel Guérin died.
April 15
- 1919 - Russian Civil War: Various Ukrainian Red Army brigades are reorganized into the 7th Ukrainian Soviet Division, the anarchist Nestor Makhno is appointed as its commander.
- 1920 - A paymaster and a security guard were killed and robbed of over $15,000 in South Braintree, Massachusetts, a crime for which anarchists Ferdinando Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti (pictured) would be blamed and executed.
- 1968 - Mujeres Libres founding member Amparo Poch y Gascón died, on her birthday.
- 2011 - Mexico: An uprising in Cherán expels cartels, police and politicians, establishing the town as a self-governing community.
April 16
- 1854 - French anarchist Laurent Tailhade was born.
- 1903 - Ricardo Flores Magón and his brother Enrique (pictured) were arrested in Mexico for having "ridiculed public authorities".
- 1937 - Spanish Revolution: The Generalitat de Catalunya is reshuffled, appointing Andreu Capdevila i Puig as Minister of Economy, Josep Juan i Domènech as Minister of Public Services, Aurelio Fernández Sánchez as Minister of Health and Social Assistance and Francesc Isgleas i Piarnau as Minister of Defence.
- 2000 - Jim Page performed at the Anarchist & Anti-Capitalist Activities during protests against the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington, D.C.

- 1854 - Benjamin Tucker (pictured) was born in South Dartmouth, Massachusetts.
- 2003 - British anarchist artist Clifford Harper's exhibition "Graphic Anarchy" opened at the Guardian newsroom.
April 18
- 1850 - American anarchist Joseph Labadie (pictured) was born in Paw Paw, Michigan.
- 1937 - Spain's Friends of Durruti Group held their first public meeting with a crowd of around 1,000.
April 19
- 1854 - French anarchist painter Charles Angrand was born.
- 1890 - Max Nettlau published "The Historical Development of Anarchism" in Freiheit.
- 1945 - Julius Nolden, the former head of the Free Workers' Union of Germany, was freed from a German prison on arrival of the Allies.
April 20
- 1879 - Alexander Soloviev attempted to assassinate Alexander II of Russia in Saint Petersburg.
- 1916 - Emma Goldman was convicted of advocating birth control.
- 1927 - The Dielo Truda group organized an international anarchist conference in L'Haÿ-les-Roses, France.
- 1946 - The Korean Anarchist Congress met for the second day of four.
- 2001 - Quebec: Jaggi Singh was arrested while thousands of demonstrators (pictured), including members of Anti-Capitalist Convergence, demonstrated against the Free Trade Agreement of the Americas in Quebec City.
- 2001 - Kabylia: The Black Spring begins, after the murder of the Kabyle student Massinissa Guermah by Algerian police.
April 21
- 1898 - Errico Malatesta (pictured) and others stood trial for criminal conspiracy in Italy.
- 1913 - André Soudy, a member of the Bonnot Gang, was executed.
April 22
- 1873 - Luigi Lucheni (pictured) was born.
- 1891 - Ferdinando Nicola Sacco was born.
- 1897 - Pietro Acciarito tried to kill Umberto I of Italy by stabbing him.
- 1906 - The Paraguayan Regional Workers' Federation is founded.
- 1937 - Spanish Revolution: The Socialized Economy Regulatory Council is established by the CNT and UGT to socialize the city of Villena's economy.
April 23
- 1937 - Spanish Revolution: The Madrid Defence Council is dissolved by the republican government of Francisco Largo Caballero, returning Madrid to unitary rule by the Spanish Republic.
April 24
- 1892 - On the night before the trial of Ravachol (pictured), Théodule Miller bombed the restaurant in which Ravachol had been pointed out to the police.
- 1970 - Abbie Hoffman attempted to attend a party at the White House with Grace Slick (who was invited) but was denied entry.
- 1963 - Tõnu Trubetsky, Estonian anarchist was born.
April 25
- 1892 - The trial of Ravachol began.
- 1937 - Emma Goldman organized a benefit concert for refugees of the Spanish Civil War, featuring Paul Robeson as a performer.

- 1894 - French anarchist Emile Henry (pictured) stood trial for blowing up a police station and a cafe.
- 1898 - The trial of Errico Malatesta and others concluded, finding all parties guilty.
- 1916 - Ben Reitman was arrested in New York for distributing birth control information.
- 1937 - Spanish anarchists clashed with forces of the Catalonia's Generalitat, resulting in the death of Antonio Martin, the anarchist mayor of Puigcerda.
- 1968 - Former anarchist Daniel Cohn-Bendit was arrested.
April 28
- 1912 - French anarchist Jules Bonnot was killed after killing three of the 500 laying siege to the house he was hiding in.
- 1919 - After receiving a bomb in the mail, Seattle Mayor Ole Hanson declared that the government should "buck up and hang or incarcerate for life all the anarchists."
- 1937 - Spanish Civil War: The confederal militias are militarized into the Spanish Republican Army.
April 29

- 1865 - German anarchist Max Nettlau was born.
- 1883 - Jaroslav Hašek (pictured) was born.
- 1966 - The First of May Group kidnapped Marcos Ussia, a Spanish priest, demanding the release of anarchist prisoners in Spain, including Stuart Christie.
