• 1980 – Super Bowl XIV, the Pittsburgh Steelers defeat the Los Angeles Rams by a score of 31–19, becoming the first team to win four Super Bowls.
• 1985 – Super Bowl XIX, the San Francisco 49ers defeat the Miami Dolphins by a score of 38–16.

Birthdays

• 1935 - Milt Plum, quarterback, played in two Pro Bowls over a 13-season NFL career.
• 1951 - Ray Hamilton, defensive lineman with a nine-year career for the New England Patriots. In the 1976 NFL playoffs he was given a roughing the passer penalty that allowed the Oakland Raiders to extend their late-game drive and ultimately win, en route to a Super Bowl XI victory.
• 1967 - Mark Stepnoski, center who played in five Pro Bowls and two Super Bowls over a 13-year NFL career with the Cowboys and Oilers.
• 1977 - Rian Lindell, placekicker with a 10-season NFL career, mostly with the Buffalo Bills.
• 1977 - Jeremiah Trotter, linebacker, played four Pro Bowls and one Super Bowl over an 11-season NFL career, including three separate stints with the Philadelphia Eagles.
