Piper Oz The Hound is the first and only studio album by the South Carolinian musician Art Lown.
Originally published by United World Recording Studio in 1976, Piper Oz The Hound was reissued, with the same cover, by Anthology Recordings in 2021 following the success of “Deep Blue Sea” on their compilation album Sad About The Times.
There was some confusion on the exacting wording of the last track of the album, as it appears as "What It Takes To Make Me Love You" on the label, but "What It Takes To Make You Love Me" on the back cover.
The audio and reissue confirms that the intended track title is "What It Takes To Make You Love Me."

[edit]"To try and capture in words the excitement and versatility of this young man is virtually impossible.
My first impression of ART LOWN was one of disbelief. Bubbling with enthusiasm, strumming his guitar, here was a young man with an endless repertoire of songs, his songs, songs written from a different approach. He has a refreshing new way of saying the age-old phrase: I LOVE YOU, YOU LET ME DOWN, I’LL ALWAYS LOVE YOU.
In the recording of this album, I watched him put his very soul into each phrase of every song. I listened as he and the musicians brought to musical life the songs you are about to hear - - - each one penned with total honesty and a deep concern for expressing himself to you through his music.
Even the musicians could not believe the excitement this young man generates when he sings his songs.
Getting to know the man who wrote: PIPER OZ THE HOUND, POWER OF THE RAIN, DEEP BLUE SEA, and I JUST CAN'T NEGLECT YOU was not an easy task. As with most creative people, Art has an air of mystery about him. His many talents not only come alive in his music but in his poetry and creations on canvas. Having studied Commercial Art in College, another ART LOWN lives in his paintings and drawings; one of which appears on this back liner as PIPER OZ THE HOUND.
Art has a lot to say in everything he does. I am sure after you hear these ten songs you will want to hear more and more - - - - And more you will hear, for a new star is rising in the form of - - - - - ART LOWN.
