The Passara Polling Division has a Sinhalese majority (50.3%) and a significant Indian Tamil population (43.0%) . In comparison, the Badulla Electoral District (which contains the Passara Polling Division) has a Sinhalese majority (73.0%) and a significant Indian Tamil population (18.5%) [1]
