The Nordic Storm are an American football team based in Copenhagen, Denmark and Malmö, Sweden. They are the newest expansion team in the European League of Football (ELF) and are set to begin play in 2025.[1]
History
[edit]The Storm were announced as the 18th team to join the European League of Football on September 21, 2024.[2] It will be the first ELF franchise based in Scandinavia. The Storm will also be the first ELF franchise to be represented by two countries.
The ownership group consists of several Danish businessmen with connections to the Danish American football community.[3] Palle Navntoft Christensen was appointed as the Storm's first general manager.[4] On October 3, former NFL offensive coordinator and Munich Ravens head coach John Shoop was named as the Nordic Storm's first head coach.[5]
In Copenhagen, the storm will play at Gladsaxe Stadium, while the Malmö stadium has yet to be determined.
