Kearny Point's Bus Lot

Kearny Point is one of the 18 depots of New Jersey Transit, located in Newark, New Jersey. It handles routes in the Jersey City, Bayonne and Secaucus area.[1]

History

[edit]

Kearny Point is NJ Transit's new garage that was opened on August 17, 2024.[2][3][4][5] It is connected to Ironbound Garage, and it was leased to the Port Logistics Group trucking company until 2022-2023. NJ Transit opened it as a bus garage on August 17, 2024 once Coach USA stopped operating the Hudson County routes they were assigned. The garage only stores buses with maintenance being done at Ironbound and CMF due to the interior of the garage being incomplete. The garage essentially holds most routes and buses that were previously assigned to private contractors like Olympia Trails, A&C Bus and Academy Bus Lines.
