Natasha Verma (born June 2, 1994, in New York City, New York) is an Emmy Award-winning news anchor, journalist, film director, and cancer survivor.
Education
[edit]Natasha Verma holds a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University, where she graduated with honors at the age of 18. She is also the youngest-ever graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, having earned two undergraduate degrees—one in Broadcast Journalism and another in Biology Pre-Med—at the age of 17.[1][2][3][4][5]
Career
[edit]She has worked for several notable news organizations. At KUSA 9NEWS in Denver,[6] CO, Verma served as the weekday morning anchor from August 2019[5] to August 2022,[1][7] Prior to that, she worked at NBC10 Boston as a reporter and anchor[2][6][8][9] from June 2016 to June 2019. From June 2014 to June 2016, Verma was at WBBH NBC2/ABC7 in Fort Myers, FL,[2] Earlier in her career, she reported for News 12 Bronx in New York City[1][2] from April 2012 to May 2014. She has been serving as a weekday evening anchor on FOX 5 New York as of year 2023.[10]
Natasha Verma has also directed a feature film Hardy in 2013-2014. Hardy tells the inspiring true story of Heather Hardy, a female boxer from Brooklyn, NY, Hardy premiered at Austin Film Festival and won Verma "best first-time director" honors at the Irvine International Film Festival in California.[11]
Nonprofit work
[edit]In 2017, Natasha Verma was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. This personal experience inspired her to establish the Verma Foundation,[8][12] a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.[6][3] The foundation focuses on providing custom cap wigs at no cost to women and children experiencing hair loss due to cancer treatment.[1][2][7][10]
