Life

[edit]

In the early 1940s in Kanpur, Narendra Mohan didn't have enough money to buy a bicycle and had to rely on the bullock cart, a traditional public transport in the district.

Mohan was drawn into politics to serve as a BJP MP by his political mentor, Lal Krishna Advani.

Mohan's father, Puran Chand Gupta, founded Dainik Jagran in Jhansi; it was his third attempt at starting a news business. The newspaper was among the first to switch to color and to print satellite editions. The newspaper employs about 2,000 journalists and introduced the concept of mohalla correspondents.
