Kongara Nagamani was murdered in an honor killing after she had married a Dalit (an untouchable). The murder took place in the state in the South Indian state of Telangana.[1][2] Her brother surrendered himself to police and is charged with her murder.[3][4][5]
Background
[edit]Kongara Nagamani was a police constable. She had married Srikkanth a dalit with whom she had studied in the same school and had known each other for 10 years.[citation needed]
Death
[edit]Just 3 weeks after their marriage, her brother, Parmesh, reported killing her when he surrendered to the police, who then charged him with murder.[6][7][3][1][2][4][5]
