Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate (Arabic: محافظة مبارك الكبير, IPA: [Muḥāfaẓat Mubārak al-Kabīr]) is one of the governorates of Kuwait which mainly houses residential areas of Kuwait City. It was formed in 27 November 1999[2] when the Hawalli Governorate was split in two, and was formerly called Qurain Governorate. It was named after Mubarak Al-Sabah, the seventh ruler of the Sheikhdom of Kuwait.[3]
