Overview
[edit]Mindvalley is a global educational technology company specializing in personal development and online education. Founded in 2002 by Vishen Lakhiani, the company offers courses on health, wellness, spirituality, entrepreneurship, and mindfulness.
History
[edit]Mindvalley was founded in 2002 by Vishen Lakhiani, a former computer engineer and entrepreneur. Initially based in New York City, the company started as a small business selling meditation CDs. By 2004, it had relocated its headquarters to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.[1]. This move coincided with a broadening of its product offerings beyond physical media to include digital courses and content.
In the ensuing years, Mindvalley grew. By 2010, it had launched several flagship programs like the "Superbrain" course by Jim Kwik[2] and the "Lifebook" program by Jon and Missy Butcher.
Then the company introduced the Mindvalley Membership in 2016, which offered subscribers access to its full catalog of courses and live events. This period also saw the launch of its mobile app.
By 2020, Mindvalley had hosted multiple editions of its A-Fest event. The period after 2020 also marked significant technological advancements with the introduction of E.V.E., an AI-powered assistant.
As of 2025, Mindvalley continues to expand its course offerings and technological capabilities. [3]
Vishen Lakhiani has been recognized for integrating entrepreneurship with personal development. His work in this field has been noted in business and media circles, with mentions in leadership-focused publications and news coverage. Lakhiani has delivered keynote speeches at various conferences, and his perspectives on leadership and innovation have been featured in media outlets, including CNN.[4] [5]

Global impact
[edit]Mindvalley has a global presence, with over 10 million students across more than 195 countries. The platform aims to make personal development widely accessible. Many students have reported positive experiences and personal growth through its programs, aligning with the vision of its founder, Vishen Lakhiani. [10][11]. Numerous celebrities have publicly acknowledged Mindvalley's benefits, including rapper Miguel[12] and tennis champion Bianca Andreescu.[13]
Events and community
[edit]Mindvalley hosts global events such as A-Fest and Mindvalley University, which bring together speakers, entrepreneurs, and students for immersive learning experiences. These events focus on networking, personal growth, and entrepreneurship.
Technology and innovation
[edit]Mindvalley uses advanced artificial intelligence (AI) to” make learning more personal and effective”. One of its key innovations is E.V.E. (Everyone Elevates)[14], an AI-powered assistant that helps users with personal growth. E.V.E. collects data from wearable devices to understand how users are feeling and provides real-time support. For example, if someone is feeling stressed, E.V.E. might suggest a relaxation technique or a calming playlist. It can also create custom podcasts in the user’s own AI-generated voice.
Continuing this approach, Mindvalley CEO Vishen Lakhiani is dismantling the traditional office structure, emphasizing remote flexibility and deep work instead of rigid corporate settings. [15].
Collaboration with Apple
[edit]Mindvalley has partnered with Apple Inc. to make its self-improvement courses more accessible by integrating them into Apple's ecosystem[16]. The Mindvalley app is now pre-installed on demo devices at Apple Stores globally, showcasing its content through iOS 18 and Apple devices. This collaboration extends to Apple Vision Pro. The initiative is launching in January 2025.
Social responsibility
[edit]Mindvalley has engaged in initiatives related to social responsibility and sustainability, including community programs, environmental efforts, and support for educational causes. The company has been involved in projects aimed at promoting personal development and well-being on a broader scale.
Criticism and controversies
[edit]Mindvalley has attracted a large audience, but it has also faced criticism. Some commentators have questioned the scientific basis of certain courses, while others have raised concerns about the pricing of its programs.
