Milton Nienov (born 29 March 1968) is a Brazilian goalkeeper coach and former goalkeeper.[1] He has worked with clubs in Brazil, South Africa and Tanzania, and is currently the goalkeeper coach for the Botswana national football team.[2]
Career
[edit]Nienov began his career as a footballer with Brazilian club Chapecoense, playing as a goalkeeper.[1] He also played with several clubs in the lower divisions of the Brazilian football league system, such as ABC, America and Esportivo.[1]
In 2001, he joined Figueirense FC as a goalkeeper coach, working for the club for four years until 2005.[3] He later signed for Recife between 2005 and 2007, and Vasco da Gama in 2007 until 2008.[3] In 2009, he signed with South African club Free State Stars F.C. for five years until 2014, and later, Polokwane City F.C. for a year until 2015.[3] He was also the goalkeeper coach at Simba S.C. between 2021 and 2022, and Young Africans S.C. between 2022 and 2023.[4][5][6] He has also had other roles, such as technical director, with Golden Arrows and Super Eagles.[6]
He was called up to be the goalkeeper coach for the Botswana national football team in the qualifiers of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.[7]
Personal life
[edit]Nienov was born in Brazil on 29 March 1968.[3] His son, Gustavo Martins Nienov, is also a footballer, playing for the U21 team of Pedrabranca.[8]
