Mercy Health Tiffin Hospital is a 35-bed non-profit short-term acute care hospital in Tiffin, Ohio. It is owned and operated by Mercy Health.[1]

History

[edit]

Mercy Health Tiffin Hospital opened in October 1913. Its origin begins a few years earlier when the Rev. Thomas F. Conlon and Rev. Joseph Schrembs discussed building a charity hospital for the community. Seven acres of land were purchased for the construction of a four-story fireproof building. The new hospital cost approximately $75,000.[2][3]

Schrembs requested that three Sisters of Mercy from their convent in Grand Rapids, Michigan be sent to administer the new hospital.[2]

The original building was demolished in 2008 and replaced with a modern facility capable of housing 51 beds.[4]
