Log entry

[edit]

{{editprotected}} Please add the following sentence: The latest log entry is provided below for reference:. --Francisco (talk) 11:55, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps the whole passage "The reason for protection can be found in the protection log. If you do not find the entry in the protection log under the title of this page, check alternative capitalizations." could be replaced with your sentence, otherwise we are going to have quite a redundant words? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:07, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it could. --Francisco (talk) 14:57, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Any better? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:06, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK. --Francisco (talk) 18:08, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Remove {{fmbox}} template

[edit]

{{editprotected}} Please remove {{fmbox}} template from this message. This message is formatted with a CSS class named mw-warning-with-logexcerpt, which is formatted likely {{fmbox}} warning messages, configured in MediaWiki:Common.css. An example can be checked in this article, which has been semi-protected from creation.

This is the code without {{fmbox}} template:

'''This page has been locked so only {{#switch:{{PROTECTIONLEVEL:create}}
  |sysop=administrators
  |autoconfirmed=autoconfirmed users
  |#default=some users
}} can create it'''.<p>The latest <span class="plainlinks">[{{fullurl:Special:Log|type=protect&page={{FULLPAGENAMEE}}}} protection log]</span> entry is provided below for reference. If you do not find the entry in the protection log under the title of this page, check alternative capitalizations.</p>

You're right, that looks better. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 22:35, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Add "templateeditor", also change "autoconfirmed" with "editsemiprotected" and "sysop" with "editprotected" as well.

Examples:

Source Result
{{PROTECTIONLEVEL:create|Jack Touchton}}‏‎ autoconfirmed
{{PROTECTIONLEVEL:create|Like this one}}‏‎ sysop
{{PROTECTIONLEVEL:create|Sujit Meher‏‎}}‏‎ sysop

[edit]

Add the recently implemented "extendedconfirmed" protection level, as all protection levels apply to all pages, no exceptions.

Example: {{PROTECTIONLEVEL:edit|Gamergate controversy}} yields: extendedconfirmed Eyesnore 12:40, 8 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Eyesnore: Are we even using this message anymore? When is it called? — xaosflux Talk 01:18, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Xaosflux: The recently implemented "extendedconfirmed" protection level and permission. Eyesnore 11:16, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The new text should read without fmbox:

'''This page has been locked so only {{#switch:{{PROTECTIONLEVEL:create}}
  |editprotected=administrators
  |templateeditor=administrators and template editors
  |extendedconfirmed=extended confirmed
  |editsemiprotected=autoconfirmed users
  |#default=some users
}} can create it'''.<p>The latest <span class="plainlinks">[{{fullurl:Special:Log|type=protect&page={{FULLPAGENAMEE}}}} protection log]</span> entry is provided below for reference.</p>

Eyesnore 11:19, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Eyesnore: This is  Done - my question is when will this message even be presented - looks like we might not be using it? — xaosflux Talk 11:49, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Xaosflux: Even though it will be rarely encountered, it may be unexpected for an administrator to set the create protection to "extendedconfirmed" (allow only established editors and administrators). Eyesnore 11:52, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Oh no, that's not what I mean - I mean I don't think the message content is being displayed for at all - maybe if someone manually tries to alter the url? — xaosflux Talk 17:51, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  1. To standardize this with the standard protection warning and reduce ambiguity, replace "page" with "title" and "locked" with "protected" (so it reads "This title has been protected so only...")
  2. It appears PROTECTIONLEVEL now returns user groups. So replace "editsemiprotected" with "autoconfirmed", "editprotected" with "sysop". – Train2104 (t • c) 16:27, 10 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
