[edit]

Please replace this interface message with:

{{#invoke:Bad title suggestion|main|$1|$2}}
The requested page title contains [[Wikipedia:Page name#Technical restrictions and limitations|unsupported characters]]: "$1".

This is in response to this VPT thread, to suggest a valid page title when a broken link is used, which we can safely do now that phab:T275261 is fixed and deployed here.

I've created, tested (carefully, I hope), and fully protected the module Module:Bad title suggestion, but I'm leaving the interface message update to another admin as a safety check. I've made this change on test.wikipedia.org for review: try <https://test.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foobar>.

Also pinging Dinoguy1000 in case he would like to copy my implementation to his wiki.

Thanks! — The Earwig (talk) 06:20, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@The Earwig: may be a bide of a BIKESHED comment - but File:Dialog-information on.svg? I don't think this is in style with indicators for other interface messages? — xaosflux Talk 14:57, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Xaosflux: Bikeshedding is reasonable. I haven't changed {{Did you mean box}}, and it's the same template used on pages like Disambiguation (disambiguation via {{No article text}}. Though if you have a better icon/design in mind, feel free to suggest. — The Earwig (talk) 15:08, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ah OK, looks like is already at MediaWiki:Noarticletext - so good enough. — xaosflux Talk 15:21, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, xaosflux, sorry for the ping, but I'm not sure of other admins actively looking at FPERs. Any updates on this? — The Earwig (talk) 03:07, 14 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
 Done @The Earwig: this has been updated. — xaosflux Talk 04:22, 14 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
