<tt> → <code>

[edit]

Now that we're in HTML5, the <tt> element is deprecated. So can we change the tag around the four tildes to be <code> instead? Thanks, David1217 What I've done 22:29, 9 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Partly done: I used <kbd>...</kbd> as recommended by W3C. --Redrose64 (talk) 23:23, 9 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I do not really get the difference between <code>, <kbd>, and <samp>. Oh well. David1217 What I've done 23:19, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The code element "represents a fragment of computer code. This could be an XML element name, a filename, a computer program, or any other string that a computer would recognize."; the kbd element "represents user input (typically keyboard input, although it may also be used to represent other input, such as voice commands)"; the samp element "represents (sample) output from a program or computing system". In the situation at hand, ~~~~ is definitely being used to show user input. --Redrose64 (talk) 11:04, 11 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay—thanks Redrose64. David1217 What I've done 19:50, 11 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Description of suggested change: Remove text telling users to sign posts, which is unnecessary with th reply tool and new topic tool. I believe a similar edit was made to {{Talk page header}}.

@Qwerfjkl: what about everyone that is just using the editors? — xaosflux Talk 21:29, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Xaosflux, I presume they're experienced enough to know to sign comments. — Qwerfjkltalk 06:05, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Offering my post-implementation support. The question is not will anyone ever find the information at all useful, but rather will enough find it useful enough to justify the cost in clutter. With the new talk page tools, that bar is no longer met. {{u|Sdkb}}talk 14:57, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please delete {{#ifeq:{{#titleparts:{{FULLPAGENAME}}|1}}|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation|| and two trailing }}, as the draftspace now exists. Thanks! HouseBlastertalk 12:53, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@HouseBlaster are we sure no pages are still getting built in Special:PrefixIndex/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation ? — xaosflux Talk 14:03, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Xaosflux: Good question. I assume no new pages are being created at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation, given draftspace has been around for close to ten years and the "create a new article!" buttons all point to draftspace. However, before doing this, I agree we should have some concrete numbers. I have requested a qu(e|ar)ry. I will reopen this edit request depending on its results. Per Wikipedia:Request a query#Subpages of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation, we are all good to remove the exception. In fact, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/* is on the title blacklist with a custom error message. HouseBlastertalk 22:39, 19 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
