[edit]Tip: divide the list into sections:
- Edit protection
- ...(use most of the current items)...
- Move protection
- Page-move vandalism
- Move warring
- No reason to move
- Create protection
- Offensive name
- Repeatedly recreated
- Likely to be created in error
Of course, would be nice if devs could add a separate "Protect-create-dropdown" message ... —AlexSm 17:43, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- Why? Like how exactly what you categorize each one? And won't it just have a bunch of reasons under edit protection, and then only 1 under each other section? If you can show me what you would think is better, I would probably be able to judge your opinion better. Cheers, « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 19:32, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- No, the list of course will stay as one drop-down list, (like MediaWiki:Deletereason-dropdown for deletion or MediaWiki:Ipbreason-dropdown for blocking), dividing it by subsestions just might make it more convenient; it's up to you (en.wp admins) whether you want to divide it or not. I updated the example above with some samples. —AlexSm 19:59, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- No I understand that, I just wanted you to do what you did, add the individual reasons. I'll take a look at it when I am out of class. Thanks, « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 20:04, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- How does it look now? I removed a couple as they really aren't common protection types, but overall I think it looks good. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 20:23, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- I was bold for once and removed Template:pp-create, as it is basically "repeatedly recreated" but in a template form. If anyone disagrees feel free to change it back. Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :) 06:05, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

As you can see in this diff, the use of the full page name of WP:BLP in the relevant protection dropdown entry is causing some protection summaries to be cut off. Could you please change this link to point to the shortcut, WP:BLP? Thanks, — This, that, and the other (talk) 10:02, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
