Mared Alaw Griffiths (born 3 March 2007) is a Welsh professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Manchester United's under-21 academy team and the Wales national team.

Youth career

On 1 July 2024, Griffiths transferred to Manchester United's under-21 academy team,[3][4] who play in the Professional Game Academy League.[5] She previously played for the FAW North Academy.[6][7]

On 30 October 2022, Griffiths made her debut for the Wales under-17s in 2023 U17 Championship qualification against Montenegro in a 4–0 victory,[2] playing as a left winger.[8] She scored her debut goal for the youth team in the second round of qualification against Finland during a 2–1 defeat.[2][9]

In October 2023, she played the full 90 minutes for the under-19s in all three 2024 UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship qualification first round matches against Czech Republic, England, and Greece.[10]

Senior

In March 2024, Griffiths was called up to the Wales national team for UEFA Euro 2025 qualifying against Croatia and Kosovo, as one of five uncapped young players added to the squad.[11][12] A regular with the under-17s,[13] she continued to receive call ups to the senior team in 2024,[14] for qualifying matches in June,[6] and in October and November for qualifying play-offs against Slovakia and the Republic of Ireland.[15][16][17] As one of only two players remaining uncapped in the squad,[18] she featured as a substitute in the first leg 1–1 draw against the Republic of Ireland.[19][20]

Griffiths is from the village of Trawsfynydd and studies business at Meirion-Dwyfor college in Dolgellau, Gwynedd, Wales.[13]
