Early career

[edit]

Lyndon Tomlinson began his career in football scouting with Birmingham City and Leeds United. His early work laid the foundation for his later successes in identifying and nurturing young talent.

Manchester City

[edit]

Tomlinson joined Manchester City, where he played a key role in youth recruitment. Alongside Dave Harrison, he helped implement a comprehensive scouting framework that put City at the forefront of identifying young talent both domestically and internationally. Their efforts left many rival clubs scrambling to keep pace with City's progressive approach to talent identification and recruitment.[2]

Manchester United

In 2017, Tomlinson and Harrison moved to Manchester United,[3] tasked with overhauling the club's scouting system. During his tenure, Tomlinson became known for his role in spotting Jude Bellingham, one of the brightest young talents in football. His expertise and eye for talent were instrumental in United's youth recruitment strategy.

In August 2021, Tomlinson offered his resignation from Manchester United, marking the end of his significant contributions to the club's scouting and recruitment efforts.[4]

NK Tabor Sežana

[edit]

In late 2023, Lyndon Tomlinson transitioned to NK Tabor Sežana in Slovenia.[5] Appointed as the new sports director, he was tasked with revitalizing the club after a challenging period. His move was part of a broader strategy by a new business partner from the United States to enhance the club's competitiveness.

Tomlinson's extensive experience in English football and his reputation as a top scout have brought new optimism to NK Tabor Sežana. He aims to build a team capable of competing with Slovenia's top clubs like Celje, Olimpija, and Maribor.[1]
