List of storms named Susang
Appearance
The name Susang has been used to name six tropical cyclones in the Philippine Area of Responsibility by the PAGASA. The name Susang replaced the name Sening after the latter was retired in 1970.
- Typhoon Bess (1974) (T7423, 27W, Susang) – brought heavy rainfall to Luzon, Hainan, and Vietnam with 26 dead and 3 missing; the name Bess was retired after this storm.
- Tropical Depression Susang (1978) – affected Palau, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
- Typhoon Judy (1982) (T8218, 19W, Susang) – a Category 2-equivalent typhoon that made landfall on Japan, causing 26 fatalities with 8 missing.
- Tropical Depression Susang (1986) – affected the Philippines.
- Tropical Depression Susang (1990) – affected the Philippines.
- Typhoon Fred (1994) (T9419, 19W, Susang) – a devastating and deadly Category 4 typhoon; Fred made landfall in China and affected Taiwan and Japan, causing 3,063 deaths and $1.19 billion in damages.
After the 2000 Pacific typhoon season, the PAGASA revised their naming lists. The name Susang was excluded.
