List of storms named Kuring
Appearance
The name Kuring has been used to name nine tropical cyclones within the Philippine Area of Responsibility by the PAGASA and its predecessor, the Philippine Weather Bureau.
- Tropical Depression Thelma (1965) (04W, Kuring) – was analyzed as a tropical storm by the JTWC.
- Typhoon Tess (1969) (T6904, 04W, Kuring) – made landfall in Vietnam as a tropical storm.
- Tropical Storm Fran (1973) (T7307, 07W, Kuring) – affected the Philippines and Taiwan.
- Tropical Storm Ruth (1977) (T7702, 03W, Kuring) – affected China.
- Typhoon June (1981) (T8105, 05W, Kuring) – made landfall in Taiwan and Japan.
- Typhoon Hal (1985) (T8505, 05W, Kuring) – struck the Philippines and made landfall in China, causing 53 deaths with 3 missing.
- Typhoon Dot (1989) (T8905, 05W, Kuring) – made landfall in the Philippines, Hainan, and Vietnam; 8 people were killed with 1 missing.
- Tropical Depression 04W (1993) (04W, Kuring) – made landfall on Mindanao.
- Typhoon Opal (1997) (T9707, 08w, Kuring) – made landfall in Japan, killing 3.
After the 2000 Pacific typhoon season, the PAGASA revised their naming lists. The name Kuring was excluded.
