List of current GFL fighters

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

List of current GFL fighters records current Global Fight League (GFL) fighters' information, country origins, recent fighter signings and departures, fight schedules and results and the champion of each division.

Background

[edit]

The GFL is an American mixed martial arts league founded by venture capitalist Darren Owen in 2024 and will be launched in April 2025.[1] The league had a draft that kickstarted the promotion on January 24, 2025 and its first season is set to launch in April 2025 where teams will be city-based.[2][3] The GFL’s fighter-centric model is expected to include fighter health and injury insurance, a structured retirement fund and a 50% event-specific revenue share with the fighters.[4]

The GFL will put on fights across ten weight-divisions which differ from traditional weight classes: women's atomweight (110 pounds), women's strawweight (120), women's flyweight (130), women's bantamweight (140), men's bantamweight (145), featherweight (155), lightweight (165), welterweight (180), middleweight (200), light heavyweight (225) and heavyweight (265).[5] The GFL had a 300-fighter roster where 120 athletes were drafted across six teams, composed of 20 fighters, with two fighters representing each of the 10 weight classes.[6] A scoring system is set for the bouts where fighters will earn four points for a finish, three for a decision win, two for a draw, one for a decision loss and zero for a loss via finish. The points will contribute to each team's total score.[7]

Notes/key

[edit]
  1. This list provides an up-to-date roster of all fighters currently competing under the GFL promotional banner. The list excludes fighters who have not fought for more than two years and are not subjected to suspension.[note 1]
  2. Most names presented are in accordance with Sherdog website profiles and may include common nicknames or alternative spellings rather than birth names.[note 2]
  3. MMA records below are retrieved from Sherdog's website.[note 3]
  4. The flags listed in these tables are in accordance with Sherdog's website and may not fully or accurately represent the full citizenship of the people listed.[note 4]
  5. WC = Weight Class; G = Gender;WFYW = Women's Atomweight (110 pounds); WSW = Women's Strawweight (120 pounds); WFYW = Women's Flyweight (130 pounds); WBW = Women's Bantamweight (140 pounds); BW = Bantamweight (145 pounds); FW = Featherweight (155 pounds); LW = Lightweight (165 pounds); WW = Welterweight (180 pounds); MW = Middleweight (200 pounds); LHW = Light heavyweight (225 pounds); HW = Heavyweight (265 pounds).[8]
  6. Fighters' age and height are based on information obtained from Sherdog's website.
  7. Each fight record has four categories: wins, losses, draws and no-contests (NC).[note 5]
  8. Number of fighters in each division is counted as per the date indicated and the number could change week by week.[note 6]
  9. The tables are sortable and the calculation for MMA records are formulated as follows: [note 7]
    • Plus one point of the total wins for fighters having not lost a fight: 5–0–0 = 6
    • Negative points of total losses for fighters having not won a fight: 0–3–0 = -3
    • Add number of wins to the winning percentage: 10–1–0 = 10.90 | 10 + (10/11)
    • A draw counts as 0.5: 8–4–1 = 8.65 | 8 + (8.5/13)
    • No contest does not factor in as one of the variables of the calculation: 8–2–0 (1 NC) = 8.80 | 8 + (8/10)
