Leucetta is a genus of sponges in the family Leucettidae, which was first described in 1872 by Ernst Haeckel.[1][2][3][4] The type species is Leucetta primigenia Haeckel, 1872 by subsequent designation.[5][6]

In Australia, Leucetta species are found off the coasts of New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, and Western Australia.[5] However, species of this genus are found worldwide.[7]
