Zalance "Lance" Heard (born October 13, 2004) is an American college football offensive tackle for the Tennessee Volunteers. He previously played for the LSU Tigers.

Early life

In Heard's first two high school seasons, he played at Bastrop High School before transferring to Neville High School.[1] In Heard's junior season, he switched to the offensive side of the ball to play right tackle where for his performance in the season he earned All District and All-State honors.[2] After Heard's senior season, he was invited to play in the U.S. Army Bowl where he caught a touchdown in the game.[3] Coming out of high school, Heard was rated as a five star recruit and the 22nd best player in the class of 2023.[4] Heard also held offers from schools such as LSU, Nebraska, Florida, Florida State, and Houston.[5] Heard decided to commit to play college football for the LSU Tigers.[6][7]

During Heard's freshman season in 2023, he played in all twelve games, while making one start for the Tigers.[8] For his performance in his freshman season, Heard was named to the SEC all freshman team.[9] After the conclusion of the 2023 season, Heard decided to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal.[10][11]
