Raden Kun Wardana Abyoto (born 11 August 1969) is an Indonesian lecturer and politician. He is currently a lecturer at the Jakarta National Institute of Science and Technology. As a politician, he served as Secretary General of the Democratic Nationhood Party (PDK) from 2010 to 2015, replacing Rapiuddin Hamarung. He eventually switched political parties to the National Mandate Party (PAN).[2]

Personal life

Kun Wardana was born in Central Jakarta on 11 August 1969. His father, Abjoto Hadiprodjo, is a retired lawyer and civil servant from the Golkar Party who served in the Department of Home Affairs.[3]

Education

In April 1988, Kun Wardana became the youngest recipient of an engineering degree at Trisakti University. He was 18 years and 238 days old.[4][3] His thesis was titled A Comparison between 8080 and 8080, and was signed by the then-rector of Trisakti University, P.K. Haryasudirja.

In July 1990, he earned a master's degree in engineering from the University of Indonesia, specialising in optoelectronics and laser applications.[5]

In 1999, he earned a doctorate in physics from the Bandung Institute of Technology. His dissertation was titled Application of Wavelet Transformations for Speckle Reduction, Feature Extraction and Segmentation Based on Texture.[6]

Political career

Kun Wardana ran as a legislative candidate for the House of Representatives, representing the National Mandate Party (PAN) for the East Java II electoral district as part of the 2019 general election.[7]

During the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election, he ran for Vice Governor of Jakarta, accompanying Dharma Pongrekun. Together, they gained 840,640 signatures, fulfilling the requirement to run as an independent candidate pair.[8]
