Kieran Strachan (born 5 October 1995) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Strachan was selected with the 7th pick in the 2018 rookie draft.[1][2]
Early football
[edit]Strachan played football for the South Bendigo Football Club.[3] He also played in Essendon's VFL reserves team, before being traded to the Port Melbourne Football Club, where he played 2 games in the 2018 season.[4][5]
AFL career
[edit]Strachan debuted in the Crows' 69 point loss to North Melbourne in the round 9 of the 2020 AFL season.[6][7] On his debut, Strachan picked up 4 disposals and 4 tackles.[8]
In 2024, Strachan played a pre-bye match to replace Adelaide's omitted ruckman, Reilly O'Brien. He kicked his first AFL goal in a loss against Richmond. Remaining dominant at SANFL (South Australian National Football League) level for Adelaide, he won a record third best and fairest award with the Crows.[9] Following the end of the season, Strachan suffered a fracture in his right foot, putting his 2025 pre-season in jeopardy and ruling him out of the first few weeks of the 2025 season.[10]
