Juvenile Inspektor: The Shadow Over Jõhvi is an upcoming American-Estonian psychological thriller, detective, television series, based on the short story "The Shadow over Innsmouth" by H. P. Lovecraft. The main roles were played by: Oleksiy Gorbunov, Alexander Ivashkevich, Ella Bardot, Maxim Pokrovsky. The teaser premiered on September 16, 2024.[1][2][3]

Storyline

Three years before the end of the Soviet occupation, a new juvenile inspector arrives in a small, quiet Estonian town. With each step, the town's secrets and hidden tensions begin to unravel, and it's clear that this place holds more than meets the eye.

Preparatory work has been underway since February 2024, including searching for locations in Ida-Virumaa, as well as objects and attributes typical of the late 1980s. Filming of the pilot project took place in Jõhvi and Kohtla-Järve from August 31 to September 4. Work on the series is planned to resume in the spring of 2025, and if sufficient funding is found, eight episodes will be filmed. The director and producer is Pavel Gavrilin. Partial financial support is provided by the Viru Film Fund.[4][5][6][7][8]
