A native of Greenwood, South Carolina, Ware attended Westinghouse High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and played college football at Howard University.[1] He made his Negro league debut in 1932 for the Cleveland Stars, and played for the Pittsburgh Crawfords later in that season. Ware also had one-season stints for the Akron Grays (in 1933) and Newark Dodgers (in 1935).[1][2] Ware died in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1994 at age 80.
