Joe Royer is an American football tight end for the Cincinnati Bearcats. He previously played for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Early life and high school

Royer attended Elder High School located in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was rated as a three-star recruit and held offers from schools such as Arizona State, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and Wisconsin.[1] Ultimately, Royer committed to play college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes.[2]

College career

Royer was redshirted during his freshman season in 2020. During Royer's three-year career at Ohio State from 2021 to 2023, he appeared in 14 games for the Buckeyes where he hauled in four receptions for 24 yards.[3][4][5] After the 2023 season, Royer entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.[6]

Cincinnati

Royer transferred to play for the Cincinnati Bearcats.[7] In the 2024 season opener, he hauled in receptions for 89 yards in a win over Towson. In week four, Royer hauled in three receptions for 41 yards in a win over Houston.[8]
