Joan Elisabeth Adler (born 1950) is a computational physicist at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. Originally from Australia, she is a citizen of both Australia and Israel. Her research involves percolation theory, lattice models, and neural networks.[1]
Biography
[edit]Adler was born on 13 June 1950 in Sydney, Australia. She graduated with a B.Sc. in mathematics and physics from the University of Sydney in 1974. She completed her doctorate in physics in 1980, at the University of New South Wales. She worked at the Technion from 1980 to 1984 as a postdoctoral fellow and research associate, returned as a senior research associate in 1988, and became a senior research fellow in 2000. She was president of the Israel Physical Society from 2005–2007.[1][2]
At Russell Berrie Nanotechnology Institute Technion–Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, her recent research has included atomistic and electronic simulation and visualization for condensed matter and materials (including nanotubes), computational physics education, and statistical physics. She has also studied 3D stereo visualization for physics education and interopability of multiscale simulations.[2][3]
In 2005, Adler became a Fellow of the Institute of Physics (Great Britain).[1]
