Jhirkuni, also known as Jhir Kuni, is a village in Barakot Tahsil, Champawat district, Uttarakhand, India. It is about 10 km (6.2 mi) from Lohaghat.
Jhirkuni has a famous Bhumiya Devta Mandir surrounded by another devi devta mandir.[clarification needed]
Demographics
[edit]At one time, Jhirkuni used to have more than 300 families in the village; however, its jurisdiction used to cover the outlying hamlets and farms of Taandi, Taak, Kabarkot, Ovani, Nadera, Bhatwad, Suri, and Gaad. In the past, this used to be the main route for travelers before the paved roads were constructed.[citation needed]
As of the 2011 census, Jhir Kuni has a population of 103, in 31 families, which 48 are males while 55 are females. Literacy is about 77 %. [1]
