Jeffrey Collé (born 1952) is an American real estate developer specializing in luxury estates in the Hamptons[1], a region at the East End of Long Island, New York, known for its affluent residential properties. Collé has built homes for prominent individuals and celebrities, drawing from his background as a carpenter and designer-builder.

Early life and education

Jeffrey Collé was born in 1952 on Long Island, New York. His grandfather, a Belgian immigrant, and his father were carpenters[2] , and Collé began working on construction sites under their guidance at an early age.

Collé pursued vocational training as an apprentice carpenter during his late teens. He gained proficiency in multiple trades, including tile work, cabinetry, painting, electrical, and plumbing. At age 18, he joined the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, completing a four-year apprenticeship program to become a Journeyman Carpenter.

At 24, Collé established his own business, Estates by Jeffrey Collé, focusing on luxury residential construction. His first luxury home project was in Hampton Bays, New York.

Partnership with Howard Gittis

In 1995, Collé partnered with Howard Gittis, an attorney and investor. Together, they launched a speculative real estate development business in the Hamptons, completing numerous high-end projects over 12 years. The partnership ended with Gittis's death in 2007.[3]

Collé has expanded his work to include roles as a real estate developer, designer-builder, investor, and consultant. His expertise encompasses various aspects of luxury home-building, from architectural design to construction management. He has also advised real estate brokers, investors, and clients, including celebrities such as Donna Karan and Billy Joel[4][5], on matters related to luxury home construction and real estate development.
