Jean Burgess (priest)

Jean Ann Burgess (born 10 June 1962)[1] has been Archdeacon of Bournemouth since 2023.

Burgess was educated at the University of Nottingham and ordained in 2004.[2] After a curacy in Church Gresley she was priest in charge at St Alkmund and St Werburgh, Derby[3] until her appointment as Archdeacon of Bolton[4] in March 2018.[5] She was also appointed Archdeacon of Salford effective 1 July 2020[6] and thereafter called "Archdeacon of Bolton and Salford". It was announced in March 2023 that Burgess was to become Archdeacon of Bournemouth in the Diocese of Winchester;[7] she was duly collatied on 25 June 2023.[8]
