Jaydon Blue (born January 8, 2004)[1] is an American college football running back for the Texas Longhorns.
Early life
[edit]Blue attended Klein Cain High School. As a sophomore, Blue rushed for 1,612 yards and 16 touchdowns on 205 carries.[2] As a junior, Blue rushed for 2,155 yards and 30 touchdowns.[3] He opted out of the senior season to prepare for college football.[3] Coming out of high school, Blue was rated as a four-star recruit, the 48th overall recruit, and the 3rd overall running back in the class of 2022.[3] Blue committed to play college football for the Texas Longhorns over offers from schools such as Alabama, LSU, Georgia, and Oklahoma.[4]
College career
[edit]As a freshman in 2022, Blue rushed 15 times for 33 yards.[5] In the 2023 regular-season finale, he rushed ten times for a career-high 121 yards and a touchdown in a blowout win over Texas Tech.[6] In the 2024 Sugar Bowl, Blue rushed nine times for 59 yards, tallying four receptions for 45 yards and a touchdown, while also returning three kickoffs for 80 yards versus Washington.[7] He finished the 2023 season with 398 rushing yards and three touchdowns, while also hauling in 14 receptions for 135 yards.[8] On January 12, 2025, Blue announced his intentions to enter the draft.[9]
