Jakub May is a Polish drummer. He was born in Szczecin in 1975. May plays acoustic and electronic drums, as well as various percussion instruments. He has performed in various musical genres and played over 2,500 concerts across Europe. He is the permanent drummer of The Analogs.[1]

Musical Approach and Genres

Jakub May has been said to have a "no limits" approach, which reflects his openness to various musical genres. He has played in military orchestras, jazz big bands in French circuses, on cruise ships, as well as in numerous pop, rock, blues, ska, punk, country and metal bands.[1]

Concerts and Performances

Jakub's specialty is concerts - he has played over 2,500 performances both in Poland and abroad, in countries such as England, France, Ukraine, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Hungary. He has performed on many large stages, including Przystanek Woodstock, the Jarocin Festival, the Pepsi Vena Music Festival, the Ryszard Riedel Festival, as well as on numerous television broadcasts, such as New Year's Eve with Polsat.[1][2]

Early life and career

Jakub May was born in Szczecin, Poland in 1975. He began his musical career playing in various genres, including military orchestras, jazz big bands, and on cruise ships.[3]

Work with The Analogs

May is the permanent drummer of The Analogs, a street punk band from Poland. With The Analogs, he performs regularly, playing approximately 100 concerts per year.[4] His career also includes participation in the European tour "Booze & Glory: Hurricane Tour 2019", where he played 29 concerts day after day, and cooperation with a big band in a French circus, where he played around 280 shows in half a year.[2]

Studio Recordings

Jakub is also active in recording studios, where his drums can be heard on ten official album releases and numerous singles and EPs. He has recorded in renowned Polish studios such as Izabelin Studio, Studio7, Studio Varius Manx, 1234Studio, Media Studio, and Studio Serakos. His work is appreciated for the precision and energy he brings to each recording session.[1][2]

Educational Contributions

Jakub May co-created a series of educational articles in the professional magazine "TOP GUITAR" entitled "Pije Kuba do Jacek", together with drum veteran Jacek Pelc. His articles are recognized for their practical approach and inspire many young drummers.[1]

Recognitions and Associations

Jakub May is associated with the Stoart and ZAIKS organizations. In 2021, he received a ZAIKS scholarship, which is a token of appreciation for his contribution to the development of the Polish music scene.
