Biography

[edit]

Early life and education

[edit]

Inès Benazzouz[1] was born in Levallois-Perret.

His childhood friend Jeremy recalls that "there were riots in the hallways when he arrived. He was really a star, but I didn’t realize it at the time."[2]

Career

[edit]

Early days: Minecraft and Fortnite (2015-2019)

[edit]

Inès began his YouTube career in 2015, initially focusing on Minecraft and Epicube. He gained recognition through the video game Fortnite and numerous videos made in collaboration with his friend Michou. He is a member of the "Team Croûton" and signed a contract with Webedia in 2019.[3]

TV Show: Game of Talents (2021)

[edit]

He appeared as a guest on the Game of Talents show on TF1 on August 27, 2021.[4]

Z Event (2021)

[edit]

On October 31, 2021, during the Z Event, he temporarily broke the record for the most viewers in a French-language stream on Twitch, with over 450,000 simultaneous viewers.[4] This record was previously held by Squeezie.[5][6][7] However, his conversation with his Mexican friend Andrea Pedrero sparked controversy due to sexist and misogynistic remarks. He later publicly apologized.[2]

Paris-Roubaix and other events (2022)

[edit]

In 2022, the web videographer biked from Paris to Roubaix with Domingo.[8][9][10] Upon arrival at the Roubaix velodrome, over a thousand people were waiting for them.

In April, he released a video about discovering the island of Réunion.[11] He also spent a week surviving alone on Khotas Island in Cambodia before reuniting with Andrea Pedrero in Mexico.[12][13]

Minecraft Server: OneCube (2022)

[edit]

On November 18, 2022, he hosted the launch of his Minecraft server called OneCube, with several other videographers like Squeezie, Gotaga, Kameto, and Etoiles. During the event, two famous YouTubers, Bob Lennon and TheFantasio974 (Bob and Fanta), made appearances.

Eleven All Stars (2022)

[edit]

On November 19, 2022, he participated in Eleven All Stars, a soccer match between French and Spanish content creators at the Jean-Bouin Stadium, organized by streamer AmineMaTue. The event peaked at 1,155,060 viewers, which, as of December 2022, is a French record.

Documentary Film: Kaizen (2024)

[edit]

At the beginning of 2023, Inoxtag announced in a video his goal to climb Mount Everest by the following year.[14] During his preparation, he compared himself to a cyborg and invoked the "shonen mentality," a genre of manga aimed at adolescent boys. Le Monde interpreted this rhetoric and his physical transformation as a way of emphasizing that success is a matter of willpower, aspiring to be a "true winner."[15]

On April 6, 2024, his expedition began. On August 31, 2024, he announced the release of the documentary film Kaizen in September 2024.[16]

Personal life

[edit]

In 2022, he was briefly in a relationship with Mexican artist and influencer Andrea Pedrero.[17]

Controversies

[edit]

Sexism

[edit]

In October 2021, during the Z Event, Inoxtag made sexist remarks towards Mexican actress Andrea Pedrero, such as, "she's the hottest girl I've ever seen" and "I'm going to lift her up." He also made her repeat phrases in French that she did not understand, such as "Inox has a big dick." Streamer Ultia requested that the segment be stopped and denounced Inoxtag's sexism. He later apologized, admitting he had "understood his mistakes." Since then, Ultia has been harassed and received rape threats, leading her to file complaints against online harassers a year later.[18][19]

Consumerism

[edit]

Regarding Everest, some have criticized Inoxtag's expedition as an example of the increasing commercialization of the mountain, pointing to environmental concerns and accidents related to Everest expeditions.[20][21]
