I Can See Your Voice Singapore[1] is an upcoming Singaporean English-language television mystery music game show based on the South Korean programme of the same title. It is scheduled to premiere on Channel 5 on 13 January 2025.[2]

Gameplay

[edit]

Format

[edit]

Presented with a group of six "mystery singers", the guest artists must attempt to eliminate bad singers from the group without ever hearing them sing, assisted by clues and a celebrity panel over the course of four rounds. At the end of a game, the last remaining mystery singer is revealed as either good or bad by means of a duet between them and one of the guest artists.[2]

The winning singer, regardless of being good or bad, wins S$10,000. At the end of its season, the winning singer is also awarded a Nissan Leaf.

Rounds

[edit]
  1. First Impressions
The guest artists are given some time to observe and examine each mystery singer based on their appearance. Afterward, a muted video of each mystery singer that reveals only 0.3 seconds of their singing voice is played as an additional hint.
  2. Lip Sync Challenge
Divided into two groups of three (or a pair of) mystery singers, each of them have to perform a lip sync of their own.
  3. Unlock my Life
The guest artists are presented with a video package containing possible clues by one of the mystery singers.
  4. Interrogation
The guest artists may ask questions to the remaining mystery singers. Good singers are required to give truthful responses, while the bad singers must lie.

Background

[edit]

Mediacorp formally acquired the rights to produce a local adaptation of I Can See Your Voice in Singapore in July 2024, including with production duties assigned by the in-house Mediacorp Studios;[3] this was also the first to be adapted from a singing talent programme emanating in a foreign country (as in South Korea), since Singapore Idol (a local adaptation of the British programme Pop Idol) in 2004.[a]

Notes

[edit]
  1. ^ Despite the recognition,[4] Malaysia and Singapore recently co-produced their own Chinese-language adaptation of The Voice, broadcast by Astro AEC and Hub E City.[5][6]
