Harvey's Butter Rum Batter is an American confection company who specializes in batter used for hot buttered rum drinks and other food products. They are located in Bremerton, Washington and were founded in 1952.

History[edit]

Harvey Hudson was born in Idaho and married Mildred Annette Cook and they moved to Bremerton and worked at Master Hatters.[1]

Harvey Hudson created the brand and company for the batter when he worked as a bartender at a local bar and did not like his work's batter, and he created it himself which customers began buying from him. He later showed off his recipe to the public when the brand was created.[2] He partnered with Darigold to create a factory for production in 1960.[3]

In 2011, the company was acquired by Ryan, who was the operator of mail orders out of state,[4] and her family and expanded into adding popcorn and syrup using the base of the batter mix. This was due to Harvey Hudson's passing at age 94 and the brand's changes were expanded with the help of McBride.[5][6]
