Ninos Moses Khouri (20 December 2000 – 19 December 2024)[1], better known as Gaboro, was a Syrian-Swedish rapper and songwriter from Hageby/Navestad in the south of Norrköping.[2]

Career

[edit]

Khouri was born and raised in Hageby/Navestad in Norrköping. In 2022 he debuted with the song "BOGOTÁ" which has been played more than 8 million times on Spotify.[citation needed]

He made his way onto TikTok in 2022, among other things, with the song "Browski." On YouTube, the music video has been viewed millions of times.[citation needed] In the video, Gaboro appears masked with a Syrian eagle printed on a thief's cap and with a cartridge belt, surrounded by masked men. The thief's cap costume with a Syrian eagle was a recurring element in his music videos.[3]

In a short time he gained a large number of followers on social media and reached a wide audience. According to TV4, his unique style made him a favorite of many young people.[4]

[edit]

In 2022, Khouri was found guilty of minor drug offenses. He has figured in several police investigations with connections to drugs and gang crimes. On one occasion, he received 17,000 Swedish crowns as compensation from the Chancellor of Justice for being detained without charge.[5]

On November 27, 2023, a 22-year-old man was shot dead in a restaurant in Marielund, Norrköping. Khouri was also in the restaurant. The 22-year-old belonged to a criminal network that police call the Kalo network. In the police murder investigation, Khouri was described as a friend of the 22-year-old and that they went to the restaurant to eat together. In police investigations it is further revealed that the murder in the restaurant was part of a gang conflict that the Kalonätvernet had with a criminal group from the Marielund district in Norrköping.[6]

Death and aftermath

[edit]

At 20:16 on 19 December 2024, police received several calls about suspected gunshots in the center of Norrköping. Several patrols arrived at the scene, where they found Khouri seriously injured in a parking lot after being shot.[7] At 10:48 p.m., Khouri was confirmed to have died from his injuries, according to police.[8][9]

After the murder, a video clip purportedly showing the murder circulated on social media.[10]
